National Buffalo Museum in Jamestown, ND

After leaving Fargo, North Dakota, we headed straight along I-94 to Jamestown, North Dakota to visit the National Buffalo Museum. It was well worth the detour. The museum was informative on the fate of the North American bison, which was pretty nearly wiped out entirely in the late 1800s, and was "interesting" in the words of Clare, and "pretty cool" in the words of Conor. It was, shall we say, a wee bit up the scale in the quality of museum exhibits from the Greyhound Bus Museum we toured in Hibbing, Minnesota!

Next door to the museum is the World's Largest Buffalo which we also paid a visit to. It was sculpted by Elmer Paul Peterson and erected in 1959.  It is 26' high, 46' long, and 14' wide, and weighs 60 tons.
