Dinner at the Bluebird Diner
We arrived in Iowa City, Iowa, about 6:30 p.m. for an earlier than usual dinner at the Bluebird Diner which made Clare and Conor extremely pleased with their father. I have to admit that I redeemed myself immensely with tonight's choice just a day after last night's Denny's disaster. The food was locally sourced, was made from scratch, and was altogether excellent. Conor and I enjoyed the fried chicken special and, of course, I ended the meal with a slice of warmed, homemade cherry pie, a la mode. We all agreed that this was probably one of the best "road food" meals we have had so far on the road trip (I don't include the Lake Hotel dinner as a "road food").
